The matt:e SP-EVCP-T(W) is a single-phase EV charger connection centre providing built-in PEN fault protection for residential electric vehicle charge point installations. It allows an EV charger to be safely connected to a PME (Protective Multiple Earthing) supply without the need for earth electrodes, removing the disruptive groundworks and risk of striking buried services that earth rod installation typically involves.

Installer requirement: This product must be installed by a competent person in accordance with the IET Wiring Regulations, BS 7671 (18th Edition or later), and any relevant Building Regulations. All relevant supplies must be fully isolated or disconnected before commencing installation or removing the enclosure cover, as the unit carries a live mains supply (230V or higher) once installed.

Single-phase PME only: The SP-EVCP-T(W) is designed exclusively for domestic dwellings with a single-phase PME power supply and is not suitable for three-phase supplies. It must be connected via the Consumer Distribution Board or 'Garage Board' with a suitable protective device (the 'R' variant, sold separately, is the only version rated for direct connection to meter tails).

Built-In matt:e PEN Fault Technology

An electronic detection circuit continuously monitors the incoming supply. On detecting a fault condition sustained for 4 seconds, the circuit de-energises the contactor, disconnecting Line, Neutral, and CPC from the load, isolating the EV charger from a compromised PME supply.

No Earth Electrode Required

By eliminating the need for a dedicated earth rod, the SP-EVCP-T(W) avoids costly groundworks and removes the risk of striking buried services during installation, a common practical barrier to PME-based EV charger installations.

Three-Pole Certified Contactor

The internal isolation contactor is certified to BS EN 60947-4-1 and complies with the requirements of BS 7671 18th Edition, providing a robust switching mechanism for repeated fault-driven disconnection cycles over the unit's service life.

Wire-In, Wire-Out Simplicity

The 'T' variant provides three incoming terminals ahead of the contactor, allowing a straightforward connection from the distribution board and out to the charger's L, E, and N terminals, without additional protective devices built into this specific unit.

Automatic Recovery Logic

Once a fault is cleared, the unit does not reconnect immediately. The monitored supply must remain stable and within correct limits for a period of 3 minutes before the contactor re-energises, preventing nuisance cycling on a marginal or intermittent fault.

Dual-Colour Status Indication

A red/green LED gives a real-time visual status of the unit, distinguishing normal operation from over-current, under-voltage, over-voltage, DC detection, and internal error states, supporting faster fault diagnosis on site.
